I never much enjoyed his politics, but he spoke well, he wrote a great kids book, he threw a great party, and he worshiped the ground my first voice teacher walked on. He'd had a crush on her since he was about six. When I saw them in a room together, she was over 80, and when she finally gave in to his begging her to play the piano "Old Lady, please, just one tune!" (he'd called her Old Lady since she was about 25) the childish glee on his face was beautiful.
