Anyone know what "Vnrzjvap.exe" does? I've tried Google, and no dice.

Well, the computer my dad and I use is used, bought from one of his former coworkers. There's lots of stuff on here from when she was the owner, and some of it loads upon booting. Generally, I just go in and close them down manually, since I'm a novice and I don't want to remove something that might turn out to be vital.

But last night, when I was running one of my spyware-removal apps (either Ad-Aware or Spybot; I can't remember which one), one caught Vnrzjvap as something malicious. Since running the apps took about two hours and it was getting late, I let the matter rest until waking.

Before I went to bed, my computer was running faster than it had in weeks--a welcome relief. But today, it's starting to slow down again, and I'd like to find out why.

Vnrzjvap.exe was traced to residing in C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, and was created right around the time my dad purchased the computer.

Odds are that it's spyware or a virus. If I were you, I'd rename it to something (like Vnrzjvap.virus) and reboot. If things still work, it can probably be deleted.

If you just saw that in your process list, my first guess would be a virus - they sometimes use randomly-generated names.

As an aside, if you can't find it with Google it's probably nothing you need. Any essential executable (for Windows) has likely broken on someone's computer, and there will be articles and discussions about how to fix it. If you can't find it online, just delete it.
