... but I haven't commemorated today in the slightest.

I continue to feel bad about what happened on this date two years ago. But I also feel that that is in the past, and dwelling on the past--at least for someone (like myself) who didn't lose someone in the attacks--is more than morbid. I don't think it's healthy. Marking the anniversary, that is.

I remember very vividly the day of the attacks, when I went into downtown Iowa City, sat near the river, and merely lit a candle. There wasn't much I could do then. There isn't much I can do now.

I don't think you're being insensitive. You know I did lose someone in the attacks - and this year has been a lot easier for me than last year was.

I think this year the media has toned down the grieving somewhat. I remember feeling really uncomfortable last year because there was so much foisted at me - e-mails about counselers that would be in the hall, e-mails about vigils, people forwarding 'touching' e-mails...I haven't been inundated in the same way this year, and I think that's made it a bit easier for me today.

No, I didn't know. I apologize if I came across as crass.

I'm glad the media has toned things down. It needs to recede.

I wholeheartedly agree.

The only reason I posted anything about it, was because I was tired of reading about everyone talking about the victims of the attack.

It was horrible, yes. But those of us who lived through it, have to deal with the aftermath.

And those of us who live in the US, have to deal with the way our Government acted/reacted and continue to act.

So I felt the need to point out the aftermath.

I did nothing this year. I went down to the highway to shout and cheer the firefighters when it happened. that's as close to the pit as I personally want to get, and I'd no interest in being there this year.

The longer we mourn those dead, and stay angry about it, the longer our country will continue a needless war, and drain funds from industries and programs that would keep our homeland economically sound.

Such as closing librarys, diverting funds to improve schools, and in general, allowing our country to go to the Dogs who run it.

At least, that's my opinion.

Namaste,
RX
