Uh, yeah. Current species diversity may be in danger, but Mother Earth will carry on. Hell, she's been struck my giant meteors many times and life has returned. Permanent in a human scale, fleeting in geologic time. It's comforting to me to know life will go on.

I was just attracted to the phrase "permanent danger." If there were a global alarm system, it'd be at Code Red and ringing nonstop.
