First of all, I want to thank you for all of the time you've
obviously put into your game.
I am a recent user of your site. I am one of the vast hordes
who migrated over after Atari sold its version of Boggle to
various online vendors such as Yahoo. At first, it took me a
while to get used to your site, as there were significant
differences in play. The actual board was visually different,
so that took some assimilation. Also, in Atari's version, the
boards were limited by the number of players (up to six), and
there was a rating system that ranked players. Lastly, and this
was the major game-play change, Atari's version was more like
the actual Boggle game, where if more than one player had a
word, no one got any points for it. That game rewarded players
for finding words no one else did, instead of just racking up
masses of words.
When you launched the beta version, I was delighted to see that
the new version seemed to adhere more to the old style of Boggle
play. I played several games yesterday (Oct. 14), and while it
took me a while to again get used to the new limitations of
play, it was more challenging and thus more rewarding.
Unfortunately, I arrived today to find that it had reverted back
to the alpha version of scoring! I played a few rounds, but as
it was basically the same as the alpha version with more pop-ups
and typing restrictions (if you try to type a letter that isn't
on the board, the cursor will erase the last letter typed), I
went back to the regular game.
I write this to encourage you to keep the true Boggle scoring
method. Even if you can't limit the number of players to a
"table," at least that way it's much more competitive. The very
strategy of the game changes.
Again, thank you for having the drive to keep improving the
game.
Sincerely,
The temporary "true Boggle" scoring was actually a rather elusive bug!
But I will soon be adding the ability for you to choose alternate scoring methods, including "true Boggle" scoring.
Cheers,
obviously put into your game.
