I feel like now that we kids have moved out, now that they're past 60, now that they consider a date night a treat, a break from helping raise their grandkids..... i feel they are finally becoming the people, and the couple, i wish they'd been in my childhood. they still drive each other nuts, but they acknowledge that they're a bit off, and that they screwed us up pretty good, and that they are a work in progress.

i can't ever be mad at them for the past, because i am proud of their efforts in the present.
