I've finished Uncle Tom's Cabin. I think the author's afterword affected me most, although there were soliloquies, primarily by Augustine St. Clair, that also riveted my intellect.

I'm following up with The Souls of Black Folk, which I thought was a fitting second act (despite the fact that it was written 66 years later).
