The sleep deprivation study is particularly interesting because it doesn't match up with what you would expect, evolutionarily speaking. As the primary caretakers of infants - women have historically been exposed to sustained periods of sleep deprivation each time they had a baby... so you'd think they'd be better adapted to sleep deprivation than men (who I can tell you - entirely anecdotally - tend to sleep through crying babies with no problem).

Of course, this is all particularly relevant to me right now - being that I am more than a little uncomfortably pregnant, all too aware that I'm in for a nasty bit of sleep deprivation in the next few months, and barely slept at all last night because my cat - who has been ill - peed all over the body pillow I rely upon at this point to get a decent night of sleep.

In other words, you'd think mother nature would have given us girls a pass on the sleep deprivation front.. considering all the crap we have to go through to reproduce. Damn it.
