I want to thank all of my LJ friends who've blogged about racism this week. It's been an interesting read. I'll probably thread through your friendslists as well to see what all is floating out there.

[livejournal.com profile] sarahmichigan has been writing about this quite a bit all week, and I've enjoyed and appreciated the discussions that she's generated.

A special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] netmouse for introducing me to [livejournal.com profile] willshetterly.

I'm all Janie-come-lately. Anything anyone wants to say about race in America (or other countries, too--I like understanding cross-cultural interactions), say it here. :)

today is the first i'd heard about BARW. you prolly mentioned it at some point and missed it. *shrug*

I think living outside Portland, Oregon.... I miss having black people around. which might sound strange, or even racist, but growing up in the South, where 50%+ of the population was black.... there are cultural differences that enrich both "groups". Portland has a very small, tightly-knit, almost inbred black community. On the other side of the city.

We're all people. But I miss that part of culture that I grew up with.
Does that make me somehow awful?

I knew that 320 entries back in my friends page was a bad place to be.
