Not really.. although it's worse now that I'm on blood thinners.
With a bruise you've got two processes- the injury itself and the residual blood under the skin. Once the injury is healed you can rub the area and keep it warm which brings blood to the area so that the blood cells that are outside the bloodstream can be filtered away (which is why bruises spread out before they go away). One of the things that people who have bruises that need to go away in the bdsm community use is arnica gel. http://www.ivillage.co.uk/health/comp/herb/articles/0,,181042_182011,00.html
I bruise very easily... apparently, it's weirdly related to allergies. DMSO applied topically right after, if you've got it handy, helps diminish the appearance of the same, but not the soreness, I've found. Because of the "weirdly allergy-related" thing, flaxseed/ fish oil supplements help me more than vitamin C or K, although I try to get enough of both. YMMV. Never tried rubbing the bruise vigorously with a nickel or comb as if it were a scratch-off ticket. Some people swear by it, but to me, it feels like I'm messing with the body's natural healing mechanisms, which may have been put there for a reason.
I think bruises last about one and a half to two weeks on me, but I haven't paid much attention. Some really severe ones (from falling down the stairs, getting hit by a car, etc.) have lasted more than four months, but they're always the sort that are accompanied by fat necrosis and other goodies. As always, if you're suddenly bruising much more than you normally do (or for less reason), or it's taking longer to go away, see a doctor posthaste, especially if it's accompanied by nosebleeds or feeling bad in general. There could be ickiness that could be going on that is much less expensive and traumatic if it's treated sooner rather than later.
Um.. I guess that I haven't been that helpful, and done the thing where I answer questions you weren't really asking. Sorry. But... aww... you have bruises? An excuse to snuggle you? :snuggle:
Yes, I have bruised recently. The scrape didn't break the skin, but it smarted, and I knew it would be a beaut of bruise. It has not disappointed. Perhaps there will be a photo of it soon.
I bruise extraordinarily easily. Like, a little jab will break blood vessels. I didn't used to be so delicate.
If I don't keep cramming iron into myself, yes I bruise easily. I'm mildly anemic. If I've had all my ferrous goodness then I don't bruise easily.
About 4 days to heal, unless it was a vicious bruise, then maybe 10 days. By vicious I generally mean was caused on purpose through force, usually during a sparring match of some sort.
I bruise very easily. From the comments here, I suppose it's the chronic anemia and the allergies combined. They last forever, and I don't have any helpful remedies! I've got one on my arm right now (I don't even know how I got it--I must have grazed a corner, somewhere) that looks like someone popped me a good one.
I don't bruise easily. People have said that this is due to either thick skin or a lack of blood on my part; I hope they were joking. If I do manage to get one, they're generally deep bruises that take forever to go away, and turn lots of fun colors (yellow and green as well as red and blue) on the way.
Not easily, per se, but I do definitely bruise sometimes. It depends on how bad/deep the bruise is. Sometimes a couple days, sometimes a couple weeks...
I bruise like fruit, and they can take weeks to go away. My bruises also go through a full color spectrum. It's pretty in the way that stuff like that is.
No, but then if I really bash myself I usually ice it which helps limit the bruising.
If one is low on vitamin c they will bruise easy, bleeding gums are another symptom on that one. So when I start bruising easy I up my vitamin C.
Chuckles....otherwise how long it takes for me to heal is directly related to how big the hit was and how much attention I gave me. Anywhere from pronto (few minutes) to over a week...in the past.

Date: 2007-07-02 08:21 pm (UTC)To my thinking, I would imagine being overweight and pale would make bruising more obvious, but I've not had a bad nasty bruise in a while.
However, I do tend to be accident prone and get cuts, gouges, and hairline fractures on a regular basis. But not so much with the bruises.
When I *do* get them, they don't tend to last longer than a week, and turn green and yellow towards the end of that.
