What's your favorite movie of the '70s?

Also, what in your opinion is the most underrated '70s movie (if that differs from your first answer)?

I recall seeing Jaws at the drive-in, very scary.

I can't remember that far back.
Do you have a list of 70s movies?

Thanks!
Let's see, there's 10, Alien, American Graffiti, Carrie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Dirty Harry, The Exorcist, Grease, Halloween, Jaws, Mad Max, Mash, The Outlaw Josie Wales, The Poseidon Adventure, SMokey and the Bandit, Superman, And I guess Apocalypse Now, although that was seriously gruesome.

So many good choices:

Catch-22
A Clockwork Orange
The Godfather
Enter the Dragon
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Star Wars
Blazing Saddles
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla

No way to pick a favorite, but my Most Underrated is Catch-22

Almost forgot

Doraemon
Barefoot Gen
Lupin III
Mobile Suit Gundam

Not strictly movies, but movies have been made of them.

Oh, favorite one?
I suppose that would have to be Alien.

Both favorite and most underrated: Circle of Iron.

Bruce Lee kept losing out to David Carradine - first for the role in Kung Fu and then after his death when David got the role in that film. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yes, obviously Bruce Lee > David Caradine. Still a wonderful movie. Probably my all-time favorite.

Star Wars

"All the President's Men" is both a fave and under-rated IMO.

favorite: The Godfather
There's nothing I can say to make this film seem better. It might be my favorite film of the last 30 years.

most underrated: Jaws
Jaws is a really extraordinary film. It was a commercial success, yes, but the cinematography is just stunning. Spielberg wasn't just practicing when he made Jaws - he was showing his full talent.

worst/most overrated: Eraserhead
Omg, if I could get back those 5 hours, I would. Eraserhead is listed as 89 minutes, but the subjective time to watch it is much, much longer.

I knew a lot of people would say The Godfather, which is why I added the "underrated" question as well.

I really enjoyed Annie Hall. Definitely deserved the Academy Award.

When I was a kid, I was really taken by The Towering Inferno. I haven't seen it since I was nine, though.

There are a lot of flicks on that Wiki list (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] yellowmouser) that I still need to see.
