So I was just looking over the backup tool in response to this, and wow, does it suck. You have to do one month at a time, it drops line breaks (WTF? XML supports them just fine.), and there are no comments.
Do you think that a switch over to freedom of speech or that and "Solidarity_against_internet_witch-hunts", will help?
I'm not advocating anything that will violate the TOS, but it seems to me like we've just asked al the Jews in 1934 europe to wear crosses. It seems better to ask everyone else to wear the Star of David, meaning wouldn't it be better if every single LJ'er out there swapped their interests for something like "Illegal drug use, committing crimes."
Then LJ will have to push back or outright ban all users.
I'm not trying to be snarky I am honestly interested in your thoughts on this.
You raise a good point. (A point that I would have responded to yesterday, had I not needed to wrestle with my computer.)
You're basically saying that this needs to be a Spartacus moment.
LJ has addressed the issue, finally, but the fact that search keywords are being seen as promotion of interests is disturbing to me.
If I weren't already a permanent member, I'd threaten to withhold paying them more money. LJ has really screwed up. And I daresay that this wouldn't have happened if LJ hadn't been bought by Six Apart.
Are you going to comment on that news piece in a post, or leave it as is? I'd say it's important, if one calls others to protest, to inform them of when their protest has been effective, or in the future those protests will become less effective, as there will be no incentive to change behavior.
