While I know nothing about this crabs epidemic, i could certainly tell you some stories from my days working at the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios in the middle 90's..
People get injured much more often than we hear about. Many inuries never reach the national media. However, considering the fact that these theme park attractions operate 365 days per year, its pretty amazing that they're as safe as they are, and I think much of this stems from the fact that they take the training of employees quite seriously; for many attractions you spend days learning the do's and don'ts of any particular ride.
