If you leeeeeeeave me now, you'll take away the biggest part of meeeeeee. Oooooooo-ooooooo-oh! Baby please don't go!
I used to weep over Chicago's "if you leave me now" when I was a kid. I don't think any other songs make me cry, but there are a few that inspire sad memories.
red - okkervil river various oldies, the poppier the better, like "stay" by the four seasons or "sugar sugar" in the aeroplane over the sea - neutral milk hotel paris - patrick wolf i'm sure there have been others. if left alone, i just put it on repeat and cry my little eyes out
Hands down, "Butterfly Kisses" wins this honor. I'm not sure what I find so moving about it - it's really a TERRIBLE song. My relationship with my father is NOT like that described, so maybe that's it ... ? I don't know. I've learned that it's totally unstoppable, though, and even thinking about that stupid song can get me crying. DAMN IT. *sniff*
Otherwise, *sniff* most country songs that are meant to be tearjerkers do it, too. The one about Sarah Beth being scared to death and then it turns out she has cancer and her hair falls out from chemo so her prom date shaves his head too ... that does it. *sniff*
I actually made a new year's resolution in 06 to stop crying at country songs. I succeeded, but more because I avoided country than anything else. What can I say, I'm a softie. At least I don't weep at every Harry Potter movie, like someone I know.
She's EVery Woman by Garth Brooks Augest i Bethany by The Juliana Theory Screaming Infidelites by Dashboard Confessional All Out of Love by Air Supply Wonderwall by Oasis
Purple Rain - Prince Gentle Rain - Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto Wild is the Wind - Nina Simone My Man - Billie Holiday Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen
If a song makes me cry, it's usually because I'm in agony from how much it hurts my ears, so anything from Celine Dion, most country music, opera, and Christina Agulara

Date: 2007-05-23 08:03 pm (UTC)Adia, Sarah McLachlan. I always loved the song, but I heard it once at a really vulnerable moment, and now I'll start tearing up any time I hear it.
I'm sure there are more, but those are the two that spring to mind.
what bothers me is that i can answer this with barely thinking about it....
