I'm completely cynical. The only reason SOME of the Republican senators are going along (ok, maybe a few of them are actually good people) is because distancing themselves from the Bush Admin. is a good thing for the next election cycle. We already have the facts. Gonzales had those attorneys fired (Republican attorneys, no less) because they weren't in the president's pocket, doing exactly what Carl Rove told them to do.
If there's any justice in the world, I'd like to see Rove and Cheney serve long jail terms. They deserve much worse. Bush is just the puppet, he'll have zero power once he's out of office, but those two are like old pit bulls, they could still bite someone years from now.
