If by "controversial" you mean racist, sure.

I know that American society has been creeping toward being tolerant of racism since GWB has taken office. But it's still rare for me to see apologists of the practice.

When I made the original comment, I was unaware that you-- and the rest of the world, it seems-- were unaware that this behavior has been par for the course for Imus for fifteen years.

My comment was made in the sense of "why now?" not as an apologist. I should hope you know me better than that by now.
