I don't know. Each woman has a 50/50 chance of making it through the operation (which could take 4 days).
As much as anyone would wish, it's far likelier that only one will survive. And it's just as likely that both will perish as will survive.
If I were one of the women, I don't know if I would have elected the surgery. If I had and my sister (who I knew like no other person on earth) ended up dying, I don't know if I could handle the grief and guilt.
