I think my favorite form of punctuation is the semicolon; one really has to think about when to use it.

It could be either, I believe, because in this case I'm using it in place of a comma and the word because.

Maybe I should put the question to [livejournal.com profile] grammarpolice.

if only there were some sort of half-breed colon-semicolon creature, like a quadracolon, or a tetracolon. or a mer-colon.

maybe it'd be two stacked commas. maybe it could only be expressed by an animated .gif, or hologram. either way, it'd be freakin sweet.

still, you gotta be careful of the grammarpolice. every time i hear sirens, i jump and hide my stash of split infinitives. then again, maybe the paranoia's from years of gerund abuse.

It's perfectly fine to sometimes split infinitives.
But about them sentence fragments!

Wow I can't believe I never put up my ode to punctuation I'd been talking about to Kit the other day. In any case, three cheers for semicolons!

I agree, actually. 'Tis my favorite, which is why I often overuse it. :-/

It's my favorite as well; its use, though rare, is always a pleasurable occasion.
