Jan. 23rd, 2007 05:51 pmSome of you already know that MoveOn.org has extended to me a travel scholarship to attend the United for Peace and Justice march on Washington, D.C. this weekend. I'm very excited, not only to attend the march itself but also to see the nation's capital. As a former American Studies major, I feel this trip will really help me gain a deeper perspective and understanding of the United States.
However, as some of you also know, I recently left my job. Finances are tight. I am lucky that
rialian has offered to open up his home while I am in town for the march (as has
martian_spider!). Still, there are other costs that are sure to be part and parcel to the trip. In addition, the few funds that MoveOn.org said they would be able to donate to help offset costs may not get here by the time I'm to depart.

Date: 2007-01-24 11:48 pm (UTC)If I had control over my travel plans, I'd be very tempted indeed to visit. But MoveOn bought the train tickets and determined my arrival and departure date, so there is no time for a tangential trip. But the next time I'm in the area? Definitely.
