Some of you already know that MoveOn.org has extended to me a travel scholarship to attend the United for Peace and Justice march on Washington, D.C. this weekend. I'm very excited, not only to attend the march itself but also to see the nation's capital. As a former American Studies major, I feel this trip will really help me gain a deeper perspective and understanding of the United States.

However, as some of you also know, I recently left my job. Finances are tight. I am lucky that [livejournal.com profile] rialian has offered to open up his home while I am in town for the march (as has [livejournal.com profile] martian_spider!). Still, there are other costs that are sure to be part and parcel to the trip. In addition, the few funds that MoveOn.org said they would be able to donate to help offset costs may not get here by the time I'm to depart.

If you would like to help send me, little old [livejournal.com profile] novapsyche, to Washington, D.C. this weekend, please email me at novapsyche at livejournal dot com. Please know that, if you are able to spare anything, I would be forever grateful. If you could offer only a loan, I will work with you to pay that back as soon as possible.

my door is open to you as well, since i live 3 blocks from where the march is happening and i am deeply involved in the march too. when are you getting into town?i can spare dinner saturday after the rally, if you wanted to order a pizza @ my place, or if you wanted to just go out for a good cheap dinner i know a few great places. sadly i am fairly broke myself, but i do have food at my house, space to sleep that is walking distance to and from the march.

you can reach me in dc at 301 537 1610, or just email me at virika@gmail.com

I just got back from vacation, so I missed your original posts... but I live just a few miles outside DC. So, if you need another backup place to stay, I have a couch you are more than welcome to use... as long as you don't mind toddlers and cats... :-)

But seriously, if you need a place to crash or a free meal, just drop me a line!

Thanks! The hospitality of folks on LJ has yet to cease to amaze me.

I think meals and crash space are covered now, but I want you to know I appreciate the offer.

Happy (little early) Birthday, Darlin.

Can't help with DC, but if you're planning on continuing South (to Raleigh) we have room here.

It is almost my birthday, isn't it? Thank you, MoveOn.org, for an early present! (I've never taken the train. It will be fun.)

If I had control over my travel plans, I'd be very tempted indeed to visit. But MoveOn bought the train tickets and determined my arrival and departure date, so there is no time for a tangential trip. But the next time I'm in the area? Definitely.
