Pluto lost its planet status.
Democrats took back the U.S. Congress.

What was your favorite moment/news story of 2006?

I was very happy to watch the documentary on "In Search of Eden," in which this fellow traced ancient clues back to the actual location of the Garden of Eden. And that the events from there occurred in 5,000 BC. Simply monumental detective work.
