Legendary Singer James Brown Dies at 73

The news of his hospitalization for pneumonia had just come across the wires yesterday.

I don't know about anyone else, but whenever someone this famous dies, it just is automatic shock.

The first thing I thought when I saw this was James Brown Is Dead. Hardly charitable, but then I had a bad experience with this song so it's in my head.

I gasped aloud when I read this. Despite the failings in his personal life, as a musician James Brown has meant a great deal to me; his death makes an already difficult Christmas just that much sadder.

And of course, you can bet your ass I'm going to "play that funky music" before bed tonight. Thank you for sharing.
