What we put in isn't strange - but what we left out might be considered atypical.
I don't eat sugar - so we followed the apple pie recipe - but left out the sugar. It came out wonderfully! I don't know why people add sugar. I'm so happy with my pie! and even the others who regularly eat sugar liked it. YAY!
We even had hand whipped cream with no sugar. It was yummy! :)
you've seen american pie right...? yeah... that... nah just kidding but i could kill for some apple pie, all i had available today was pumpkin and cherry.
Eh--- I'm in the same boat--- nothing really strange. I've used caramel sauce, aforementioned tapioca, craisins, nuts of various provenance, cheese on top and in the crust (I've actually had such success with baked granny smith apples and brie on French toast that I'm thinking that brie might be a welcome addition), Calvados, wine and raspberries... I'm kind of a dork about the jazz variation of the theme of a dessert. But this begs the question from YOU, lovely lady.
