I had never heard of acetyl-L-Carnitine before this. Reading the abstracts of several clinical papers, I am probably going to run out and get some today, as it apparently has beneficial properties for both people with early Alzheimers and early diabetes. Both run in my family; I have no symptoms - and don't want any! - so this would seem to be a good preemptive attack.
