novapsycheGod, I'm so bad at checking my email.
I found out today that one of the regular members of my poetry reading group has died. His name was Mike Barney. He had lymphatic cancer.
He died Sunday but I only found out about it today.
He was a fun person, one of the foundations at the meeting. He was a judge by trade. I enjoyed his evaluation, his passion; I appreciated his understanding of the locutions of music; Mike was well-read and so obviously seasoned.
I adored and respected Mike from the first time I saw him. I could tell that he had been around the poetry block, had seen some members drop in and fly away. I think he was a rook. I enjoyed coming month after month and finding him there. I loved his feedback: it was friendly but on-point. I admired his phrases and lines.
I will miss his rejoinder.
