Because they know that no matter what they do the big, bad U.S.A. will back their play, no matter how nasty it is. At some point we've gotta stop doing that! My opinion is that that time is long past.

Agreed. The Israeli government is batshit crazy, and has been for a long long time now. The only thing stopping the Middle East from making Israel a big crater is the U.S.
They don't have to worry about things like diplomacy as long as Big Bully U.S is backing them up.
Because, I think, they are collectively punishing Lebanon and want to make it obvious! Like how the Palestinians are held responsible and punished everytime they do not stop an attack against Israel, the Lebanese people are held responsible and punished everytime they do not stop an attack from Hizbullah against Israel. I guess, among other reasons, they are trying to weaken Hizbullah by turning lebanese public opinion against them (more so than already). Thats one theory.. but don't mind me I'm just randomly passing by :)
