Circumcision may stop millions of HIV deaths

Or... they could educate the men to use condoms.

!!!

People are so afraid of the uncircumcised penis. What's wrong with it? So there's smegma. Teach people how to clean it. Teach people about the cleanliness of their veneral organs. The human body is a fine thing.

It seems that the question is education, or pain?

I've been told that the uncircumsised penis feels more pleasure. To me, this is similar to encouraging women to remove their clitoris or iron their breasts.

What would be the least invasive procedure for these tribes, these clans? Introducing circumcision? Or showing adult men and women how to use contraception?

An interesting read.

I'm not sure this article is motivated by fear of the uncircumcised penis, though I agree with you it's a rather distinct fear, particularly in the US. Also, though I'd have to look up information to be sure, I wasn't under the impression that hygiene alone would stop HIV from invading the cells underneath the foreskin.

I agree with you, though, that contraception would be a much less invasive method.

hmmm

I have questions about the study.

They compared folks from two different parts of Africa. So not comparing cut vs uncut from the same area of the country, same culture, etc. Maybe there are other factors impacting the study.

Also...they went by how many "years" . Sooooooo...that has me wondering how they factored that in.

We do know the medical profession makes more money making these surgeries right? Meds, doctors, nurses, aftercare...etc on adults and what is the cost on an infant?

Hmmm

Yes, condoms would be a better choice as the behavior causing the aids challenge would still be causing all the other diseases and pregnancies too likely.

As far as an attitude toward uncut penises...not sure. There certainly are cultures that have different beliefs regarding them.

I think most men would rather be cut as a baby and have bareback sex though. What do you think?

Yeah, Ive heard the same about uncut peni (for plural! wewt!).
I myself am circumcized, so that I will go to Heaven when I die, since the Morman cult my father belonged to believed that they do a penis check at the gates. :(
Stoopid God.
My mate contests however that it is not the same thing as removing the clitoris, on the grounds that the vaginal entrance does not contain many nerve endings.
*shrugs*
Whatever the case, Im still emo that Im cut.
I have to admit, it looks sexier the way it is though. I have to say, I have a mighty cock.

Shoddy research methods and questionable ethical foundation.

I have no complaints about the allegedly crude instrument circumcision has left me and no basis for comparison as I did not have sex in the eight days during which I had a prepuce. I'm glad that this important part of my body is lower-maintenance than it would otherwise be.
