Mmmm... shiny, bumpy, juicy, seedy raspberries. Fresh from the garden, or stored in the fridge. Raspberries to stain the hands and lips, to discolor your favorite tee-shirt. Red raspberries bursting in your mouth, juice trickling down your throat and wetting your lips. Sweetness, eyes closed, savoring the punch of wet flavor, a suspended moment in time. Mmmmmmmmm, raspberries!
As a straight berry? Blackberry. It takes me back to happy times on the farm. (as bad as that statement sounds). In baking: I have a particular weakness for Blueberry muffins. I wantsssesss them! As a topping: Strawberry. Nothing beats strawberry on cheesecake. mmmmm
But I let some wild blackberries grow in my back yard over the past 2 years (just 5 or 6 canes, not much) and yesterday I had the sweetest plum/muscadine flavored blackberries I ever recall. They're hot, right in the sunshine.
I had an unfortunate incident with blueberries once, but I rather like them too. I probably eat strawberries the most, though, as they seem to be the most easy berry to acquire for sane amounts of money. I do find it hard to choose, though; berries are my favourite kind of fruits.

Date: 2006-06-05 06:43 pm (UTC)Otherwise, blueberries.
Unless they're perfect, and served on Cheesecake, then strawberries.
Except when seedless, then it might be blackberries or raspberries.
But Cherries are first.

Pepperberries
Date: 2006-06-06 12:41 am (UTC)They are even made into a liqueur (similar to a Gin), Tasmanian Bush Liqueur
As to my favorite sweet berry, possibly Midyim (Austromyrtus dulcis).
