The amygdala. Another bit of neuroscientific information. If the pineal is, as Descartes said, the seat of the soul, then perhaps the amygdala is the entry point of hell, or the origination of the ego. *shrug* I can't claim to have read enough about it to really make a comment. But it determines how we respond to fear (as well as anger).

Learning something new every day is fun, and profitable.

It would be cool if you could explain this further. It sounds interesting. I'd love to click on my friends list at work some day and find something fascinating there to read.

I'll try to do so later today; my references and notes are elsewhere. But I did get a chance to read more in-depth about the amygdala and other parts of the brain (particularly the limbic system, of which the amygdala is a part) yesterday.

It is pretty interesting stuff.
