I hated catcher in the rye, and I'll tell you what: the child rape paragraph in "I know why the caged bird sings" is still vivid and fresh in my mind after 19 years. Middle school was too early to read that. I wasn't expecting it from required reading. *grumble* I hated that lying, using asshole....stupid Holden. I hope he runs off the freaking metaphor (cliff).
