"And about differing between Magic and Sorcery Paracelsus wrote: 'There are those who say that magic is sorcery: But magic is wisdom, and there is no wisdom in sorcery.'" --The Magi
I've read several essays on the dichotomy of magic versus science. I wish I could remember where I read it, probably inserted into fiction, where the author asserted that Pagan magick and science were similar. His/her assertion was that even the "magic" of the dark ages looked more like science and even followed the scientific method to some extent.
He/she implied that Xianity was the destroyer of this early scientific methodology. I thought it was an interesting hypothesis. It would be difficult to test.
