Personally, I was surprised by how well things were conveyed with the incredible lack of graphic detail in the sex scenes.

It wasn't graphic, except for that first time they had sex when the guy spit on his hand. That was graphic, but only for a sexually experienced audience. Otherwise the movie was intensely passionate and emotionally graphic.

Very graphic, though not explicit. It clearly showed passionate sex, though it did not focus on genitalia.
