Ultraman doesn't count, since it was live action (and I'd sacrifice small animals on the hood of my car to get someone to release the LA series as a DVD box set), but it was the only other non-educational kids' show I watched religiously.
Do you mean Saturday morning cartoons, or comic strips?
I remember watching the Smurfs, some Tarzan cartoon, Looney Toons. Not a toon, but I loved PeeWee's Playhouse and watched it well into my teens.
As for comic strips, I used to read whatever they printed in the paper-- all the funny ones anyway. The serialized comic soap-opera type strips did nothing for me. I've always thought Family Circle was hokey and un-funny. I recall liking "Shoe" and "Beetle Bailey" though I'm not sure why. As a grown up, I love "Life in Hell" and "Calvin and Hobbs."
Bugs Bunny, especially the ones with the Coyote and Roadrunner Scooby-Doo Woody Woodpecker Smurfs I can't remeber the name but it was the one with Justice League of America - Wonder Woman, Superman, the Wonder Twins, etc.
G.I. Joe (especially the movie) Transformers Thundercats The Last Unicorn The Hobbit
we watched most anything when we were kids, but it seems like some of my faves are more "boy-oriented", which fits my personality well. i wish i'd been more aware of things like Voltron and Macross.
When I was very small, I loved Hanna-Barbara's Laff-o-lympics and the old Batman cartoon (not Batman, the Animated Series, that was much later).
Later on, it was all about some Smurfs, TransFormers and GI Joe, all of which I still love. The mythology from TransFormers has found its way into my magickal practice.
Define "cartoon." Like, on tv? Or in the newspapers? Or comic books? When I was a kid, there were Mickey Mouse cartoons on tv, and some I've forgotten the name of. In the papers there was the Katzenjammer Kids and Krazy Kat, and Little Orphan Annie (The name of the comic was some other name) and I think Charlie Brown came along later.
For comic books I liked most of them, favorites being Scrooge McDuck, Superman and Batman.
*thinks* Smurfs Looney toons/merry melodies, specifically bugs, roadrunner, yosemite sam. Voltron. The lions one. Superfriends Transformers Gobots (but they were on before I got home from school, so I missed the 2 seasons they were on, mostly) the Zelda part of the mario/zelda show. Captain N the game master Gummy Bears!! Duck tales he man and she-ra weren't bad either.
I remember thinking that my friends who watched Gem and GI Joe were weird.
Hey, I watched Gem! In fact, I think it was Jem. There's even a song that I liked so much that I recorded it from TV onto cassette. Sad, yes. The song? "Alone Again."
Alone again, with my guitar Alone again, it will be my falling star I see some friendly faces who smile at me and then just like every other time I'm alone again, alone again, all alone, again
Looking in the mirror, I don't like what I see Another person I hoped I would be Always seems like people are laughing at me
Alone again, with just my song Alone again, which is right where I belong What good is it to fight it, just accept it and Amen just like every other time
I'm alone again, alone again, all alone, again Alone again, alone again, all alone, again Alone again
Obviously, it made an impression on me. I remember wishing their songs were longer than twenty seconds.
Wacky Races Warner Brother ones. There was this set of horribly animated cartoons on a local station...they were educational, and really funny, but no one seems to remember them.

I always watched Charlie Brown on the PBS stations whenever I could. Because we lived so close to Canada, most of these would be in French.
