Titles are what they are. The job is usually completely different. I was a Senior Software Engineer for a game company. Normally, that's what you get after 2-3 released titles (i.e. 3-5 years working experience) and I got it coming in the door. Of course, I was the ONLY software engineer as well, the company being a total of five people! So I don't put too much stock into titles any more except as resume-padders. :)
