'Father of Valium' dead at 97

Light a candle. Anyone have any Valium stories they want to share?

The only Valium story I have is that I was given a small dose of it prior to my LASIK. Wonderful stuff for helping one to zone out. :-P

Yeah, combine it with alcohol and you'll probably wake up in the morning with all of your friends and family sworn never to speak to you again. I can't remember a THING after I take it, serious memory loss. I know respectable people who've woken up in police cells after shoplifting/fighting/criminal damage and have no recollection of it. SO use with EXTREME caution.

Other than that, its great.

Great for sex, too, great for overcoming inhibitions.

I used to be addicted to Valium. I was dating a verbally abusive man and he always had good drugs. He let me try it once and I really liked it - I've always been an anxious person. The following pattern emerged - he would get fucked up on alcohol and pills (and crack, although I didn't know that until later) pick a fight with me, refuse to stop insulting me until I was crying hysterically, then he would give me valium to calm me down and I would fall asleep. When he broke up with me he took all the drugs with him and then I went through withdrawal. Which SUCKED SUCKED SUCKED.

That's horrible psychological abuse. I'm so sorry.

No one likes being with someone who picks fights. He was doing his best to make you dependent upon him.

How do they know he is dead? He could be just on an O.D. of valium.
Valiummy.
The last drug I abused. Snorted the insides of a capsule of it to go to sleep, because I didn't want to get drunk. Overslept anyway...

Diazepam or Fluorazepam is generic valium.
It comes in a capsule. I dunno which it is...I do remember snorting both.

I was given a dose of Valium when I went to the emergency room, during my first breakthrough experience. [livejournal.com profile] zenrabbit was really worried about me. I knew that Valium would end the effects of the DXM, even on plateau sigma. It was very calming.

What I find interesting about Valium is its importance in American history. America has always had a drug culture, and this one hit the mainstream, right up until about the time Reagan declared a War on Drugs. As a student of American Studies, I'd like to know more about its impact on American culture, especially during the turbulent decades of the '60s and '70s.

You hit a plateau sigma? I thought I remember you telling you didn't. I could be wrong....
Do you remember any of the experience? If so, what?

I've hit plateau sigma at least twice now. It's very surreal, but you recognize the surreality of things. The best way to put it is, it's a very believable hallucination. But there's a difference between a hallucination and a delusion.

Both experiences were extraordinarily profound, spiritually. And each have had effects which lasted for three days.
