The publisher of Journal of Truth and Consequence has nominated "Natural Escape" (along with three poems by other authors) for the Pushcart Prize XXXIV. Even a nomination was more than I'd dared hope.

The best of luck to all of the other nominees.

Right Hand Pointing has unveiled its 28th issue. RHP focuses on short poetry. You can enjoy its contents in small bursts.

While there, you'll come across three of my pieces: "Acknowledgment of Self", "Photograph" and "[America, is that really you?]"

Journal of Truth and Consequence reveals its new issue today. Amazing artwork by Ellen McMahill and some intriguing poems by Suchoon Mo feature there, among others.

My piece "Natural Escape" resides there, too. (The formatting did not survive the editing process. Folks I recognize as friends can observe the poem's original intent [before minor revision], from my memories section.)

The Daedalus Review is up with its September (inaugural) issue. My acrostic can be found there.

Suss printed "Trip to Nowhere" about a week ago. As a fledgling magazine, it is quite impressive. Be sure to scroll through all of their entries (posted in chronological order).

Lung debuts today. "Driven" is included. (The funny thing is, the editor mistook me for a man! It's all very amusing. I've left him a note; perhaps he'll update it before long.)

There's some fine writing all around, I must say. Three memorable lines from Alex Galper's "Jose and Teresa":

But it's hard to spot a dark skinned woman in a dark room
especially if she's already dressed and left
and you are high on insanity.

decomP's September issue is available. "Confession #11" features there.

Gutter Eloquence also has its newest issue up. If you choose, you can check out "Misunderstood".

Ouroboros Review has accepted "The Great Escape" for its fourth issue.

Calliope Nerve has published four of my pieces, "Ulterior Lullaby", "because my uncle left the TV on downstairs", "Program" and "Since".

The editor is very easy to work with and has asked that I spread the word about his electronic journal. If you're looking for a receptive market, I'd suggest sending a few pieces his way.

Existere has decided to publish "Stigma" in its upcoming Fall/Winter issue. I cannot describe how happy I am about this. The magazine is quite classy.

I've also had work accepted by Bolts of Silk ("Open Letter"), Oak Bend Review ("Transference"), Gutter Eloquence ("Misunderstood") and The Orange Room Review ("Residuum"). "Open Letter" is available at Bolts of Silk currently. [There's a slight typo in my name, but I'm sure the editor will correct that shortly.]

Despite the rejection from Rattle, I've been very blessed. July was a fantastic month for me.

Gloom Cupboard has posted Issue #101. Two of my poems feature therein.

In my opinion, these are notable: "My Aura" by Kari Larsen, "Masters" by Dr. Gale Acuff, and "Alejandro" by Burgess Stanley Needle.

mad swirl has accepted two of my poems: "Eleventh Hour" and "Why Not". In fact, they are already published. (I like the editors. Working with them is easy.)

Also, The Stray Branch picked up three pieces: "Adversity", "In Substance, Chill" and "Instant Karma". The issue should be available in September.

The Ambassador Poetry Project has chosen two of my poems for its inaugural issue: "Cusp" and "What Injury Can Run Its Course". The online journal will premiere in September 2009.

If you hail from Michigan or Ontario (or if you "liv[e] elsewhere, but [your] work draws attention to some aspect of Ontario and/or Michigan"), you might want to consider submitting.

Anastomoo will publish my short poem "Benazir" electronically. Availability TBA.

(Also: same-day acceptance! I love quick notifications.)

Edit: "Benazir" is here.

Blinking Cursor has accepted "Spark" for its inaugural issue. I'm so glad it found a home!

Also, that was a 2-day turnaround. Impressive.

"Provocation" has been accepted by Tipton Poetry Journal for their Winter 2009 issue, which will be released this February. I am so pleased!

The poem has undergone several changes since I first penned it more than fifteen years ago. (For example, the word "blushing" is nowhere near the final draft.) It had been in the revision drawer so many times and for so long, I'd almost given up hope that it would find a home. I'm excited that the piece has been accepted.
