Date: 2005-04-06 02:53 pm (UTC)I don't know what to make of that statistical finding (and that's college-educated black women, not black women in general). I have a feeling it's based on direct comparisons of percentages (X% of college-educated black women vs. Y% of college-educated white women), when in fact there are far fewer black women in the United States as a whole and so such a comparison would tell only part of the story. Yes, I'm hedging a guess here, but I'd much rather look at the study as a whole and figure out how the numbers came out.
Still, what this article points out (and something I learned in some detail in my sociology courses) is the difference between wages, which is what the article you're citing talks about, and wealth. They are not the same.
