The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that the Constitution forbids the execution of killers who were under 18 when they committed their crimes, ending a practice used in 19 states.

Edit: I should have read the article more fully before I posted. It seems they have struck down executions of mentally disabled people. Why is it, then, that I feel I recently (as in, within the last two years) have recollections of developmentally disabled people being put to death? Maybe I'm thinking back too far.

I think there *have* been executions of the mentally disabled. I'm not sure there's a universal standard for how impaired you have to be in order to duck the death penalty.
