I sympathize and agree with a number of the comments made in the actual thread, but let's face it: we're talking about folks who (or at least, so I gathered the article to imply) are of a shallow enough bent that they're willing to shell out however many thousands of bucks to "look good." Which leads me to pose a question from THAT pov instead, and it's the same question I pose to people who get on yo-yo diets not because they care about their health, but because they care what other people think about how they look...

do these people not understand that there is a sizable body of the opposite (or the same, if you happen to play for that team instead) sex who find what you're trying to get rid of attractive? For the love of Pete, save your money and go be shallow with people who will admire what you already got... then maybe you'll have the time and money for therapy/education/whatever is necessary to get past the shallowness...

(I should add I do realize there are people whose vanity, as it were, is not shallow, and stems from either deep-seated trauma or the kind of insecurity that can send someone over the edge, and obviously I'd pose the questin with more tact... but I think it's even MORE important that someone asks the question of those folks, because they're in more desperate need of finding a real answer, IMO...

hrm, I should probably stop before I dig this hole any deeper, huh?)

wow, the fucked up idea of having that surgery for the sake of looking like someone in porn boggles my mind. i can sort of understand boob jobs, since when you are in a shirt, people still *see* your boobs. but unless you walk around bowlegged and naked, NO ONE is going to see your inner labia.
i had heard of it for the infection end of things (having a friend who is an obgyn nurse that had a paitent who had the procedure done for that exact reason) but all the plastic surgeons care about is the $$ it puts in their pockets
and no, not ALL plastic surgeons care about that, but the people who are willing to do that to women, just a more modern form of FGM.
tho i do like that a number of people there dont seem to get that the woman first written about was a receptionist who happened to be at a gym. the gym receptionist was not shoving her face in some womans crotch!

women are always so intriguing and confounding to me. so many strong opinions and so many different approaches to life. men seem complacent and bland by comparison. most women i know of have a better job than me, make more money than me, and have a much better prospect for a brighter future than me. i think i'm going to become a male-ist in reaction. :-P

*please note. i am being sarcastic here.*
