okay, you need to understand this DC Metro cops are the BIGGEST FUCKERS EVER. They arrested a woman for CHEWING candy past the entrance gates a few months back. They arrested a 12 year old girl for eating a french fry on the platform. I've seen them take down a guy for smoking on an open above ground platform (no one said "put that out" they just tackled him) Metro employees here have some of the best paid, best benifits and most secure jobs, and thus they feel that they can apparently be total assholes to random people. tho i do have to say that they may not have known she was pregnant when they put her on the ground. Lots of women play that game to get out of arrests and such, I've seen that at work plenty of times. Tho, I do often want to snatch someones cell phone out of their hands on the metro and throw it across the car. when you are 20 feet underground and using your phone and it starts breaking up, DONT START YELLING, it doesnt make the connection any better. underground transit is not cell friendly. duh. much less on a commuter train where people might be catching a nap to/from work and where babies are often asleep. okay, yeah, i've ranted enough here. :D
If they're not *too* loud, I don't mind cels too badly. it's the freaks who get bored and decide to start playing with their ringtones for a 30 minute subway ride that drive me batshit-- just cycling song after song, and doing the loop of them a few dozen times.
This said, I don't have a mobile, and I approve of Amtrak's "quiet car" -- a no cel, earbud-only-headphone car at the back of the train.
