Sep. 26th, 2004 10:27 pmI'd like to thank
cabellicious for pointing me to Bazooka. It really helped me de-ickify my machine. It detected four programs running, and I deleted them. Manually. I've learned a lot tonight.
Now, I have the latest Bazooka update, which is five days old. It scanned and said nothing was detected. Unfortunately, a pop up window started when I loaded my home page. It failed because it needed a specific dll file. (I should have written that down. I guess I can grab it the next time I boot up and log in.)
What do I do now?
Again, I'd like to thank Cabell. I've learned a lot today. I feel so much more confident as a troubleshooter now.

Date: 2004-09-26 07:54 pm (UTC)Another thing you can do just to cut down on irritation, if you haven't already, is get Pop-Up Stopper, which prevents pop-up windows from loading in the first place. The freeware version is a bit unforgiving, so you have to turn it off sometimes to get a pop-up window you actually WANT, but there are so many more of the other kind that I don't feel unduly inconvenienced.
