My dad cut my hair this evening. I feel so much freer!

(On the down side, I was clearing off the chair, and when my hand went between the back and the seat of the chair, somehow a little sliver of glass [!] first sliced then stuck in my middle finger. It defies logic as to how that little bit of glass got in there. And of course this happened right before I was going to step in the shower.)

So I was in the drugstore recently and saw what looked like a phone card but was in fact a Napster pre-paid "music download" card. It was the strangest thing.

[livejournal.com profile] netmouse graciously lent me her copy of Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond. I'd heard much about it, and after reading a few pages I couldn't help but ask to borrow it.

It's funny; I was remarking to [livejournal.com profile] murphyw that I mostly read nonfiction these days. When I was a teenager, I couldn't understand why nonfiction was interesting to adults. I was more into fiction, Stephen King especially. But to ask me now, I can't remember the last time I read any fiction.

Happy birthday, dearest [livejournal.com profile] vaxjedi.
