He's someone I've talked to at my bus stop for months. At first, it was just talk about the weather--but even then we talked at a level above mere small talk, which I appreciated to no end. Lately we've been gabbing about politics, which I can't get enough of (as must be obvious to anyone who frequents my journal). It was only last Thursday that I realized that I might be starting to be fond of him--he'd started walking up to me at the bus stop even when I'd lean up against a solitary tree and sing to myself. (He approached me!)
Friday we were talking intensely about politics. He was coming up on his stop, but he was rather in mid-thought and mid-sentence. He said, "Oh, today my stop is a bit further up," and continued talking for two more stops. It wasn't until I got home until I realized that was most probably a crock of crap and that he intentionally missed his stop to keep talking to me. (After I related this story to vylar, she confirmed what I thought: "He likes you.")
So, I saw him today, and we didn't say much at first. But when we got on our second connection, he sat rather nearby and we talked about Bob Woodward's new book. At the end of the conversation, I asked him his name. ("Paul John, a rather Catholic name." "Well, you did say you were a recovering Catholic.") Then he got off at his customary stop. :)
He and I have more to hope for than myself and Michael. Michael is something like 25 years older than I am. Paul is more like 5 years older. Paul graduated from a liberal arts college; Michael has four children (one at least as old as I am). Paul is as underemployed as I am (one temp worker to another); Michael is part of a union.
So, I'll just say that Paul and I have a lot in common. Which I appreciate; it's more than F and I had.
I love commiserating politically. It's so cathartic.
I have a long-range view. So I'm taking things, accordingly, very slowly.

So now you know just about everything.
I haven't been this schoolgirlish in a while.

I know I'm being all gushy rather prematurely. It's fun, though.
