I feel the need to ramble about RCT.

It's just not a good session unless I get in at least 3 hours of playing time. It's funny, because usually in the middle of a session, I'll get antsy and have the desire to check my email. But I can't bring myself to do so. (Part of the problem is that my video card is funky; the colors usually flicker. When they stick, I am quite reluctant to quit the game for any reason.)

So far, my favorite scenario has been Ivory Towers. I read the little blurb about it, "a park with a few problems." What could those be? I wondered as I opened up the file. Wow. What a mess! (Damn vandals!) I didn't even really have time to think, only to react. That was a good challenge.

The weird scenario was Thunder Rock. At first, I didn't think it was going to be that fun, because the size (and shape) of the park was so limited (limiting?). But I completed my objective and had started beautifying the park, so I let the game run longer than the scenario called for. Things were going just fine. . . until Year 6. All of a sudden, my guests started coming down with dementia, because they began getting lost at an incredible rate. It took me awhile to realize it must have something to do with the year, because I don't think I had one lost patron during Year 5. So that was weird.

I hate crashes--they suck ass. There's nothing you can do about a station brake failure except watch the crash happen. There was one time I had to demolish a ride because each of the 8 cars were simply going to crash into the one that was stuck at the station. I didn't want to watch 64 of my patrons die.

Customers tend to drown really quickly, too.

Lastly, I'd just like to say that I love beautifying my park. I used to consider landscaping as lame--I'd lower or raise land, sure, but putting in trees and shrubbery? Then, one day, I looked at my patrons' thoughts and found that some of them thought "The scenery is here is wonderful". Wow! And you can do that so easily--the ornamental trees are enough to attract the customers' attention. And getting the award for Most Beautiful Park? I didn't even know that award existed! So now, once I get past $20,000, I start making the place fancy.

Now my challenge is to learn how to construct my own roller coasters. I like the convenience of the ready-made designs, but one of my remaining scenarios has a limitation that you can't remove any of the trees. I don't know how I can build a roller coaster if I can't clear any land.
