sweet potato update

However, I had already started when I realized that I didn't have any maple syrup. I never keep maple syrup. So I looked up what might be a good substitute for it. My choices were molasses & honey. As much as I love honey, I thought molasses would be closer to syrup both in consistency & taste.
The molasses were my great mistake. This is because I don't really like the taste of molasses. However, I thought the flavor of everything else would balance out the dish. Newp.
So now I have this huge dish of sweet potato oatmeal that no one in the house will probably eat.
2.5 hours of bupkiss.
(I'd also substituted walnuts for pecans but spread them over only half of the dish to see if there would be a huge difference in taste. I don't know if I'll be up for experimenting, though.)
