novapsycheTop Obama ally says sorry after 'negro' remarks -- In a new book, "[Harry] Reid, the Senate's Democratic majority leader, was quoted [in 2008] as saying Obama was popular with voters because he is 'light skinned' and 'with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.'"
You can imagine the firestorm. Reid had to issue a statement and call the President to apologize. President Obama accepted his apology and said that was the end of the story. GOP leaders, Michael Steele in particular, called for Reid to resign.
For once, conservatives have identified an actual instance of racism. What Reid needs to do, in my opinion, is apologize to the electorate. We are the persons maligned in his statement.

Tangentially related vis-a-vis bias in certain parts of the electorate: Is race a factor in opposition to health reform?
