According to John, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
According to Hinduism God created the world with the sound "Aum".
My understanding of these two theologies is that they both agree that the word was intertwined with creation.
I think once you create a separate life form with an individual mind separate from another you require language to communicate with that life form.
Of course sometimes you come to a realization through inner monologue (even our thoughts take the form of language). I think God communicates with mankind through this inner dialogue and we use outside signals and signs to help facilitate the process. Therefore I think that Moses saw a burning bush and was struck by inspiration and this fueled his creative inner dialogue to communicate with something greater than himself. I'm not sure I believe a voice from the sky ever communicates with mankind when dealing with divine signs. I think it always comes from within.
