The lack of hibernation is a MUCH bigger problem than it seems on the surface. Hibernation allows bears to survive both the cold weather (not an issue) and the reduction in available food. If the bears start starving this winter, the breeding populations will be further reduced and could accelerate the slide towards extinction.

It is also more likely that bears will start wandering into the cities to get food, provoking more altercations and human injuries.
