Weekend

It goes without saying that I had a wonderful weekend.

Friday I was supposed to have a date, but my date cancelled. This was fine, as it allowed me to get some things done around the house. (I could have picked up a book. I need to get around to doing that again sometime.)

Saturday I spent the afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] dionysus1999 and [livejournal.com profile] sarahmichigan. We played the American version of Trivial Pursuit. I had fun, even though I, the American Studies scholar, came in dead last. [livejournal.com profile] dionysus1999 put up with me for the remainder of the afternoon, even though I grew sleepy.

After a quick nap, I got on the road and visited my friend (and ex-fiance) Dan, down in Monroe. I hadn't seen his new house yet, even though he'd been living there for two years now. He and his wife are expecting another child. She and I actually got along pretty well this visit, which surprised Dan.

I got home late. The drive from Dan's house to mine is very uninteresting, and thus dangerous for late-night driving. Made it home safe. Got online, of course. Reconnected with [livejournal.com profile] vaxjedi via AIM.

Sunday morning I got up for brunch with [livejournal.com profile] netmouse, [livejournal.com profile] murphyw and their roommate (who is on LJ but whose handle I don't know). Caramel-ly French toast. Then I wrote a poem for Thirteen Blackbirds and checked my email before we spirited off to Royal Oak for a showing of Mirrormask, the latest cinematic effort by Neil Gaiman. It's fantastic. Highly recommended. (It's in limited release now, hopefully expanding to many more cities soon.)

While there, we met up with other friends of [livejournal.com profile] netmouse, many of whom have LJs, but again I can't think of their handles (except for [livejournal.com profile] thatguychuck--he gives good hugs!). We were raucously joyful in a coney island for a while, then went our separate ways. It was good to meet new people.

My week is full up again. Amazing how that happens. Thirteen Blackbirds is tonight. I'm looking forward to it.

I need to find out info on accordian doors, something that would be able to enclose my reception area after hours. I'm not exactly sure where to start. Any ideas?
