When the British report came out yesterday declaring that Saddam Hussein had no significant W.M.D., or perhaps no W.M.D., Tony Blair accepted "full personal responsibility" for "the way the issue was presented and, therefore, for any errors made."

Mr. Bush, by contrast, took full personal irresponsibility.

This is absolutely wrong. Every branch of government, including Congress, needs a check to keep it in balance. If Congress can enact laws prohibiting oversight from the judicial branch, then the Congress will soon find it can legislate everything and bad laws--unconstitutional laws--can remain beyond the reach of anyone.

At karaoke last night, the guy sitting next to me (who'd appeared to have been chatting up the girl next to him) turned to me and asked if there were any good songs in the songbook. I asked him if he wanted to look through it, and he said sure. He leafed through a few pages, seemingly halfheartedly yet feigning an interest. I sucked on my Coke. After a few minutes, he nudged the book back in my direction, laughed a little, and said he was just looking.

Now, I don't know if he was flirting or not. But I've basically decided to retreat back into my shell for a little bit. Once bitten and all that.

Yeah, this is unfortunate.
