Well, I didn't do what I'd hoped to do yesterday. So whenever that happens, I will make an update.

Instead, I think I was afflicted with food poisoning yesterday. I was feeling bad yesterday afternoon, but I needed to do some Christmas shopping after work, so I did that. I felt crummy the entire time. I finally got home and basically curled up in bed for a few hours. After napping, I readjusted my body from lying on my side to my back, and that was enough. My mouth started to water in that tell-tale way, and I tried to fight it momentarily, but it was inevitable.

After my body flushed itself, I felt much better. I still felt weak and out of sorts, but the worst was over. I tossed and turned much of the night, but when I got up this morning, I was more or less back to normal.

Please help me whittle down my choices for my grad school application. Vote on these two polls.

Also, I'm going to put all of my poems in this journal into my Memories. This is going to take a short while, though.

Poetry is an art. Creative writing is an art. As such, there are ways to approach it where you evoke word pictures and images for the reader to enjoy.

A lot of what passes as "poetry" these days is angst-ridden dreck (especially on LJ). Good poetry is crafted: it is a work of art where each word is as carefully considered as a pointillist's dot on the canvas.

Garbage in, garbage out. If you read good poetry, you'll eventually start churning out stuff that looks like what you're reading. If you can then channel your own style and voice into that, you've got it made.

God is YHVH insomuch as God is self-existent. God is being. God is the source of everything that ever was, is and will be. There is nothing that's outside of God's control. Satan will never be able to sit on God's throne because Satan is a being created for the purpose of doing God's will. The Adversary (haSatan), as seen in Job, is only able to do whatever God allows Satan to do.

This is my view of God. This is why I consider myself an Old Testament Christian.

What exactly is "professional interrogation"?

Considering Bush's remarks about Hussein's capture (it didn't matter if he were alive or dead), I have to say it does matter. (Bush's remarks matter nearly as much.)

I keep thinking to myself, how would Gore have reacted to 9/11? How different would this world be? So much ultimately hinged on the presidential election of 2000. And, by extention, so much hinged on that single vote in the Supreme Court decision. This has been the slippery slope that everyone was afraid of. Give the Christian conservatives an inch and they'll grease it with oil and slide as far as their skin will let them.

Tonight's Jeopardy! Final Jeopardy question about international law. Apparently the first draft of treatment of prisoners of war was written by President Lincoln, who ordered that they have "humane treatment and wholesome food".

That is the least that should be afforded to Saddam Hussein. Instead we are using sleep deprivation and not letting him relieve himself. Our administration is not in line with international law.
